![]() I will, all my life, search for the perfect taco. I feel like you rationalised irrational imagery and constructed a coherent narrative out of wild characters and wild circumstances, and tied it all up in a glowing red bow at the end. My favourite sentence is probably not: "There's an old axiom: "A couple's first quarrel is Cupid's laxative."", but it comes pretty close. ![]() Having attempted to read a Robbins book nearly fifteen years. I picked up Jitterbug Perfume because a friend asked me if I wanted to read along with her (it was a reread for her). My favourite character was probably whale-mask wearer Marcel, although Bingo Pajama comes pretty close solely for the whack name. In Jitterbug Perfume, Robbins investigates themes of immortality, humor, individuality and, of course, love through an outrageous cast of characters and circumstances. ![]() while the king was as conscious as an un-sheated knife." King Alobar. Aside from earning brownie points for setting a small fraction of the novel in Pan's homeland 'Arkadia', for me it was the genius you revealed at, possibly, all moments in the book. Basically, I was in prime position to enjoy Jitterbug Perfume to the fullest. I was experimenting with food combining, hiking mountains, meditation, sage burning and dabbing amber on my wrists. I was curious from moment one, and have remained curious until the moment at the end. Jitterbug Perfume was the perfect fictional companion to Campbell’s non-fiction. ![]() "The beet is the most intense of vegetables." What an excellent start. The Arab Revolt against the Turks in World War One was, in the words of T.E. It left an itch in my mind, one I left unscratched for many years until this book came along, highly recommended (and, fortunate for me as I painted a room in my home, readily available in the audio version). In my youth, the extent of my analysis was bemoaning the tragedy of Lawrence’s untimely death, and never mind the complex threads that took the young British man to the center of the strange and convoluted politics that gripped and twisted the Middle East in the early decades of the 20th century.
